An approach apparently echoed by Walt Disney "We are serious people who don't take ourselves seriously" according to PY Gerbeau, who successfully turned round the fortunes of Disneyland Paris (so he would know!) and took over ownership of Brighton Marina in 2004. Accountants do not have to be boring! HistoryParkers in the 21st Century, in what is now the City of Brighton and Hove, was formed in 1986 by the merger of two existing practices Parker Challis & Arbenz (from Brighton) and Pollins Raynor & Boxall (from Hove), from which Chris Arbenz and Liz Raynor continue as partners in both Parkers (Chartered Accountants) and Parker Wren Tax Consulting LLP. Stephen Monk joined the merged firm later in 1986 to manage audit services and became a partner in 1988. The eponymous Mr Parker retired as Senior Partner in 2003. In April 2000 we acquired the Paul Bouch & Co practice (also in Church Road, Hove) and Paul maintains his contact with the firm as a director of one of his old client companies. In January 2001, the Hove practice of Crouch & Co joined the enlarged firm with David Jemmett as the continuing partner. This renewed some old associations as Ricky Patel, our associate partner had worked for Crouch & Co before joining Pollins, Raynor & Boxall and Susan Higginson worked for Parker Challis & Arbenz before joining Crouch & Co. The firm’s name has changed a number of times over the years after starting in 1986 as PRB Parker Pollins, subsequently shortened to Parker Pollins, changed in 1990 to The Parker Partnership and in 2005 shortened again to Parkers. Our joint venture Independent Financial Advisory company, Parker Partnership Financial Management Ltd, came fully on stream in 2001 and Parker Wren Tax Consulting LLP was formed with Stephen Wren in September 2005. The Team now stands at 25 people, including professional and support staff, who are committed to offering an excellent and personal service to our clients, with support from our IFA colleagues and other expert consultants as required. CharterGroup, of which we were a founder firm in 1986, which gives us access to another sixty firms throughout the country, including Corporate Finance Specialist in London and The Business Exchange for assistance with company sales. Stephen Wren ATII Stephen joined Parkers in the summer of 2005, having been head of Wealth and Tax Advisory services for HSBC Private Bank in London. He previously managed the Private Client Team for Deloittes (South East) and been Head of Private Client International Services at Robson Rhodes. Stephen specialises in providing tax and wealth management services to individuals and has acted for some of the leading entrepreneurs in the UK and overseas. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. Stephen has a passion for rugby, is a keen golfer and having, in an earlier life, made a living singing and playing guitar in France, enjoys spending time at his house in Calvados, whenever time permits.
